Abstract

Historically over two hundred years at the early the United States of America (U.S.A) till 1960's the U.S government governed by the English white peoples--White Anglo Saxon Protestant , WASP . They first immigrated to the continent of America at 17 th century while English faced crises in economy , in politic , in their christianity . By process they became settlers in the hope looked their destiny fo a good and better life , and then followed other immigrants from other European contries , Latin America , Africa , Asia, Japan and China .WASPdominated all over social lifes and adopted racism .The racism brought from their native Anglo Saxon . Its national system of the U.S. government was designed by them in racist .As dominant theyinstituted racimand descriminated black African and other ethnics outside They was domint culture and other ethnics as minority. Its national system of the government adopted Monoculturalism , that meaned there was one cultureonly--culture of Wasp .In this writing I elaborated available book references based on qualitative methodology focused on American socity and their cultures . Since at the beginning American society has been heterogenous --plural society . Under monoculturalism , descriminations were shown as segregation on the public arenas --in school , bus school transportations , and others. Paradoxically Wasp in individual relation formulated and allowed minority practiced their own cutoms of origin cultural values in individually , groups , in their communities . In work places followed the racist national system of the government.American experiences by Frontier known as Westward Movement changed and transformed much developments in American panorama found new tastes , new homes ---wilderness became towns , cities , and metropolitant that brought to Modern America . These were realizations of individualism and dreams of prosperity . Modern American has been able to imagine , intermingle and learn new social life of the Americanism , also respect , accept , recognize their own identities each other ---intermingle , intermarried with different race and religion . Modern America has shown a high empathic capacity in promoting nationalism , spirit individualism , and democrac.By the end of 20 th century since John F. Kennedy nominated and became a president of the U S. in 1960's throughmulticullturalism movement under " hippi " or "hippy" struggled by them against to remove monofilturalism. President Kennedy was catholic in religion , and black by race from Ireland . The U.S. under multiculturalism has been no more monoculturalism. No more are in superiority as dominant culture and inferiority as minority. Multivilturslism reflexs the realizations of sacred values ---freedom and equality. Multiculturalism America respects and accepts other outside environments as plasticity in ability to learn , to change , to adapt to new environment as shown in overcoming the 30's and 70's in economic crises. Multiculturalism strengthen all its institutions due to they are not a white --finished product , but reflexs ongoing processes as human projects in social policies and social code.Ours as Indonesian can learn from American experiences in multiculturalism in respecting and accepting other ethnic identities as we are multicultural able to transform faster to bring our livelihood in social life prosper
