Abstract

After the fourth amendment to the 1945 Constitution, Indonesia implemented a presidential system of government consistently. In a presidential system of government, the position of the executive does not depend on the people's representative body. Singapore's form of government is a republic where government power is exercised by a cabinet led by the Prime Minister. Singapore has a parliamentary system of government. Purpose:The purpose of this study is to compare the existing constitutional law in Indonesia with Singapore, an article on the Indonesian and Singaporean government systems is something that is of interest to the public so that they know how the Indonesian government system is with one of the neighboring countries, namely Singapore. Methods:The method used is the normative juridical method, namely the method of library law research which is carried out by examining library materials or secondary data. Result:Indonesia with a presidential system of government, the President simultaneously serves as head of state and also head of government. Unlike Singapore, which adheres to a parliamentary system of government, Singapore has a republican form of government, so it can be called a parliamentary republic. The constitution of the government in Indonesia has a written basic law, namely the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia. The 1945 Constitution has been amended four times, while the Singapore Constitution is the supreme law of the country and has been in force since its enactment on 22 December 1965. Conclusion:The legal system is different between Indonesia and Singapore because it is known that civil law is an Indonesian legal system originating from Europe, especially the Netherlands, namely Continental Europe, while inSingapore the Anglo Saxon or common law legal system is used.
