Abstract

Banana peels, as a waste, could be an environmental pollution if it not be utilized in many years. Starch content within banana peels, specially in species Musa paradisiaca L, is high which able to be used as a raw material to bioethanol synthesis trough fermentation method. This research aims to find out the best condition for producing bioethanol using raw material that mentioned above. The method of fermentation using saccharomyces cereviciae as a yeast was carried out for converting banana peels to bioethanol.Some parameters were observed such as time of fermentation in range 2, 6 and 8 days, temperature in both 30oC and 40oC then acidity also in both pH 4 and 5. Product of fermentation was analized by picnometer method. This study showed the best result was obtained at temperature 40oC, pH 4 and 6 days of fermentation, in yield percentage 86.35.
