Abstract

Currently, many food and beverage industries use aluminum cans as packaging material. Aluminum cans that end up as waste are difficult to decompose which in turn can become a problem of environmental pollution. It is known that Poly Aluminum Chloride is a coagulant material as a water purifier. into Poly Aluminum Chloride (PAC) which can be useful as a dirty water purifier. The first step in this research is starting from dissolving small pieces of Pocari Sweat cans with 48% NaOH solution. The solution formed was made in several different pH values, namely PH 5,6,7,8,9 by adding 33% HCl solution. The solution was filtered and the precipitate obtained was dried in an oven. An equal amount of each dried precipitate was taken to be synthesized into Poly Aluminum Chloride by reacting it with Sodium Carbonate and 33% HCL solution. The liquid PAC formed was then analyzed for specific gravity, pH, Al2O3 content, heavy metal content, and effectiveness test. in removing turbidity in dirty water. From the results of this study, it was obtained that the best PAC was PAC made from a solution of PH 8 with a specific gravity value of 1.2, Al2O3 levels 8.7 and pH 2.6 and as a coagulant from the results of the effectiveness test it can reduce the turbidity level of water times from 84 NTU to 4 ,01NTU.
