Abstract

With the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, most universities around the world have started using their distance learning tools to start teaching online. To address this emergency, several universities in Indonesia have developed “mobile learning platforms” as new tools for teaching and distance learning for students. This is still new and needs to be evaluated to identify its strengths and challenges. Therefore, this study aims to investigate students' perceptions of mobile learning platforms as well as to identify important factors influencing students' use of mobile learning platforms. The two-stage SEM modeling technique was adopted to analyze the causal relationship between the constructsin the research model. The results showed that content quality and service quality significantly influenced the perceived usefulness of the mobile learning platform. In addition, perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness significantly influence behavioral intentions to use mobile learning platforms. The study findings provide useful advice for decision makers, service providers, developers and designers in the ministry of education on how to assess and improve the quality of mobile learning platforms and understanding the multidimensional factors for using mobile learning platforms effectively.Keywords:e-learning; mobile learning platform; use of distance learning; COVID-19.
